Building relationships

Unashamedly a generalist, I love to learn about what makes a business and team special and build on their unique attributes to drive success.

Background

I studied International Business and Languages at Heriot-Watt University, spending a year in a French business school and completing an internship in Germany.

After university I joined Morgan Stanley Investment Banking where I worked mostly on private equity led transactions as well as capital market and M&A deals. I then joined Apax Partners as a generalist with the buyout team, completing several transactions in Tech and Healthcare. I also did a stint in Munich looking for Med Tech development capital deals.

After the high octane of deal doing, I scratched an entrepreneurial itch by setting up my own business and in so doing learned many valuable lessons about what is important to drive success in early-stage businesses, and how to bring a strategy to life. During the years I spent juggling a young family, I was fortunate to be able to take on interesting strategy, funding and operational projects including in infrastructure, renewable energy and software.

I plunged back into the world of early stage, high-growth businesses when I joined a B2B SaaS Prop Tech business as CFO, helping to fundraise and refine the business’ strategy, before managing a successful trade exit in in 2021. Having been tempted back into the investment world shortly afterwards, I joined the Mercia team in January 2024 and am now based in the London office.

At Mercia I’m able to combine many of my skills, experiences and interests by supporting portfolio companies as they scale and grow as well as preparing for further fundraising and/or exit.

I love to learn about what makes a business and team special and build on their unique attributes to drive success.
