About

At school I was a stereotypical nerd, endlessly curious about a whole host of things and unable to pick a single subject I wanted to focus exclusively on as an undergraduate. That led me to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, where I was able to indulge my passion across a range of disciplines, ultimately graduating having specialised in Cognitive Neuroscience. I then studied for a Masters in Research Methods at the University of Manchester before joining the world of work.

The first step of my career was in the NHS, as a member of their competitive Graduate Management Training Scheme. A glutton for punishment (or maybe I just love exams), I qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant working in the NHS, before joining Big Four firm PwC in their Corporate Finance team. Whilst at PwC I predominantly advised in the Healthcare space, finishing with two years working on M&A transactions in the energy and digital infrastructure sectors.

I joined Mercia Ventures as an investor in February 2021, initially as a generalist investor before returning to my first true love: science. I now focus on investments in the Life Sciences, HealthTech and DeepTech sectors (including computer vision and AI-enabled software), investing at the late Seed or Series A stage.

A scientist by training, I love working with scientists, engineers and pioneers to commercialise novel products and technologies.
